Mission

Our program aspires to promote independence, organization, concentration, etiquette and self-esteem to empower the child to achieve. Through manipulative materials available to them, they learn to discover and understand new concepts and the world around them.

Montessori Teacher

• Ms. Mary Nokom has been teaching preschoolers since 1996.
• For the past 6 years, Ms. Mary was a member of the faculty at Burlingame Montessori.
• She has a Bachelors Degree in Literature (1995)
• Masters Degree in Special Education (Continuing)
• Montessori Credential for Early Childhood Education (American Montessori Society, 2002)

Areas of Development

Practical Life

The Practical Life Area allows the child to work with materials that enhance his or her fine motor and self-help skills. The jobs involve transferring liquid or solid objects from one container to another either with their bare hands or with instruments like spoons, tongs, tweezers, basters etc. The child can also work with the dressing frames to help them master their button, zipper, hook and eye, buckle, snap and bow tying skills. Most jobs are familiar to the child and promote confidence, coordination, concentration, order and independence.

Sensorial

The Sensorial Area helps the child hone his or her 5 senses (visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory and gustatory). The child will learn to discriminate, associate and classify materials accordingly. This area prepares the child for academic learning like math and language.

Math

Montessori Math materials are very visual and give the child a concrete understanding of quantity and symbol. The child is always encouraged to challenge himself or herself and has the freedom to explore in his or her own phase.

Language

Kubo Montessori uses miniature objects to name, introduce sound, spell words and make sentences or simple paragraphs. We use phonetic reading and sight reading to help the child develop his or her skills.

Cultural

The Cultural Area is composed of Geology, Biology, Zoology, Botany and Cosmology. Every month we introduce different concepts touching each branch of the Sciences and relate their existence to the Cosmic World.
